The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G mobile platform will be powering the iQoo Z3. Qualcomm has claimed that the USP of Snapdragon 768G is that it will provide a step-up in the performance of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 636. 

Qualcomm states that the Snapdragon 768G is 30% more power efficient and features a 45% improvement in graphics performance. The Snapdragon 768G also supports LTE Advanced and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

India’s first Intel-powered smartphone is finally here. Chinese manufacturer iQoo has unveiled its new iQoo Z3 smartphone in India. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G Octa-core processor. 

And features a 6000 mAh battery with fast-charging. The iQoo Z3 is priced at Rs. 12,999 and will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart.

The iQoo Z3 is a great choice for a pure smartphone which has great value to offer at its budget price. Also, it will be a game changer in the sub-Rs. 30,000 segments in India and other emerging markets. For those unaware, iQoo is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China. The company is expected to launch its first sub-Rs. 30,000 smartphones in India as iQoo Z3.


The specifications and features of the smartphones released by manufacturers like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo, Oppo and others in the last two years have left the competitors struggling to catch up in the segment. These manufacturers have raised the bar with each launch of their smartphones, and their high-end devices are priced higher than that of the competition. Recently, two of the most popular manufacturers—Oppo and Vivo—launched their own variants of the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9. Meanwhile, Oppo unveiled its Find X flagship with many unique features. All of the latest smartphones have a metal body, but these manufacturers use different materials in order to make their products unique. The Vivo V9 and Vivo X21, for instance, have a display notch design.

Powered by the latest Kryo 385 CPU with the latest 8nm process technology and features up to 20% higher performance than the Snapdragon 660. The new Snapdragon 888 boasts of several new advancements including a focus on AI and 5G networking. The SoC has the first,of its kind Snapdragon Neural Processing Engine to accelerate on-device machine learning via optimised hardware and software. The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 also has an upgraded Adreno 680 GPU for amazing graphics with Qualcomm Hexagon 682 DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and Spectra 280 image signal processor (ISP). The CPU was optimized for multi-threading, and the new Adreno 680 GPU was also built to support a 48MP ISP, allowing users to record high-resolution images at 48 frames per second.

This, in turn, would allow the smartphones to produce detailed images, higher dynamic range, and better detail with less noise. The chipset also features new fingerprint scanner that supports both biometric authentication and gesture recognition. Also, the inclusion of support for two nano-SIM cards would allow users to use two nano-SIM cards in one smartphone, eliminating the need to have two physical SIM trays. Moreover, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.


The SnapDragon 888 will make it the first chipset to support Snapdragon X24 LTE Cat. 18. It is said to support gigabit LTE networks and multi-gigabit DLAA 3D graphics. It will also be the first chip to support 5G NR standards. The SD888 will bring a lot of new tech features like In-screen Fingerprint scanner. Price should come under around $800 (Rs 45,000). A lot of vendors are also expected to launch 6GB variants of the upcoming smartphone. The chipset is rumoured to arrive with the recently announced Mi 8 Explorer Edition.


With ZTE skipping its quad-cameras setup in the Z5, the company seems to be focusing on other major features such as the 8-day battery life and the beautiful curved display. Most recently, the Chinese manufacturer launched the X6s, the world's first bezel-less phone with bezel-less display, at CES. However, at the end of the day, it is consumers who will choose their phones based on the specs and performance. Also, one should remember that the US Patent Office rejected a claim by ZTE that its phones infringe on the design of the iPhone X, thereby saying that iPhone X's design patents will remain intact.
